EXHIBITIONS
The curatorial aim of Irenic Projects is to exhibit contemporary art (preferably by non-religious artists) in religious spaces. The art should provoke questions by both the artists and the religious space. For the artist: Why would a religious space want to exhibit my art? For the religious space: What does this art have to do with religion? Throughout the course of the exhibit, new connections can be made that begin to answer those questions.
The goal is to broaden the dialogue between notions of sacred and secular, expand the definitions of what counts as religious practice, and help artists promote and exhibit their work outside the limitations of the typical market and institutional frameworks.
